Based in the heart of New York City, our mission is to provide professional, personalized pet care that makes both pets and their people feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. Whether it’s a quick walk around the block, a weekend of in-home sitting, or just a friendly face for your furry friend during the workday, our team is here to make tails wag and whiskers twitch with joy.
Meet the Owners
Lena Carter and Jordan Blake founded Wags & Whiskers Co. after years in pet care, aiming to create a community-focused service.
Lena, a certified dog trainer and animal advocate, wanted to emphasize individualized care over convenience after managing a successful dog daycare. Jordan, a former vet tech and pet sitter, combines expertise in animal health with a passion for building connections with pets and their owners.
The two bonded at a local rescue fundraiser over shared values of compassion and reliability. What began as a few walking clients has evolved into a thriving team of trained, insured, and background-checked sitters and walkers across NYC.
Lena Carter

Hi! I’m Lena, and animals have been my whole world for as long as I can remember. I started out volunteering at shelters in high school, worked my way up to managing a dog daycare in Brooklyn, and eventually became a certified dog trainer. I’ve always believed that pets deserve more than just basic care—they deserve someone who understands them, connects with them, and genuinely enjoys their company (which I absolutely do!). I specialize in working with shy and nervous pups, and nothing makes me happier than earning their trust and watching their confidence grow. When I’m not walking dogs or organizing our team’s schedule, you can find me at Prospect Park with my rescue mutt, Daisy (who is with me in this picture), or testing out homemade dog biscuit recipes in my kitchen.
Jordan Blake
Co-Founder | Pet Sitter Extraordinaire | Cat Cuddler-in-Chief
Hey there! I’m Jordan—former vet tech, full-time animal lover, and proud co-founder of Wags & Whiskers Co. After years in the veterinary world, I realized my true passion was in the everyday moments: the morning walks, the quiet couch cuddles, the silly routines that make every pet unique. I’ve been pet sitting and walking dogs across NYC for over a decade now, and I treat every animal like they’re my own (spoiler: sometimes I miss them more than their humans do). I’m especially experienced with senior pets and animals that need a little extra care or medication. When I’m not on the go with a leash in hand, you’ll find me curled up with a good book, a cat on my lap (this guy in the picture with me is Bruce), and a mug of coffee that’s been reheated at least twice.
